SITA RAWLLEY- LEADING LIGHT OF INDIAN WOMENS GOLF
The Indian Golf Union along with the entire golfing community is grieved at the loss of Mrs Sita Rawlley on Saturday 22nd November 2015 after she celebrated her 90th birthday, a few days ago.
Mrs Sita Rawlley was the convener of IGULS (Indian Golf Union Ladies Section) from 1993 to 1995 and provided great leadership to Women's Golf in India.
She was an outstanding player and won the Ladies All India Amateur Golf championship for three consecutive years from 1976 to 1978. She represented India both as a player and official in International Tournaments, and on many occasions was a member of The Indian Team in Queen Sirikit Tournaments in 1981 and 1983. She was recognized for her achievements and was conferred with The Arjuna Award by the President of India in the year 1977.
We, The Indian Golf Union bid adieu to Mrs Sita Rawlley, an exceptional player, able administrator and great ambassador for the game. Her loss will be felt by everyone and she has left a void which will be difficult to fill.
RIP Sita Rawlley. May you remain our leading light and keep guiding us from above.
