Important
- Dates & Venue of Tournaments may be changed due to unforeseen circumstances. Changes, if any, will be published well in time.
- The Championship Committee reserves the right to add or cancel tournaments at its discretion.
- Players are advised to confirm the dates and important information pertaining to various Events on the IGU website appearing under link “Latest News” and “Golf Calendars”. All changes will be notified through Latest News and Golf Calendars on the IGU website www.indiangolfunion.org.
- IGU Hard Card will apply for all IGU Events.
Conditions of IGU Gentlemen Amateur Tournaments
National Qualifiers:
- There will be Two National Qualifiers conducted in 2024 for gaining entry into the main tour. Top 30 players and ties after each qualifier shall qualify to play the entire gentlemen tour calendar of 2024. Player can choose to play only one qualifier and cannot play both the qualifiers.
- National Qualifiers are open to players with IGU-WHS handicap index of 6 and below. It is mandatory to submit the latest IGU-WHS Handicap, failing which entry is liable to be rejected.
- National Qualifiers will be played over 72 holes, 18 holes each over 4 days on stroke play format or as decided by the Tournament Director depending on the number of entries.
- In the event of entries for the Qualifiers exceeding 130, a Cut will be applied at the end of Round 1 and the Top 90 plus Ties will advance to the second round. A further cut will be applied after Round 2 (at top 40 plus ties).
- Participation Charges for all National Qualifiers shall be 3000.00 payable at the time of Registration.
- National Qualifiers will not carry any points in the Order of Merit List.
Categorized Events:
- It is mandatory to submit the World Handicap System (WHS) Certificate. Players need to have a handicap of 6 and below. Handicap Certificates from coaches or clubs will not be accepted.
- All players in the Final IGU Order of Merit of 2023 shall be eligible to participate the entire main tour of 2024.
- Players from the National Qualifiers as per the qualifying conditions mentioned above.
- Top six (06) players each from the 2023 Amateur Feeder Tour of the North, East, West and South Zones respectively shall be eligible to participate the entire tour of 2024.
- Top five (05) Junior Boys from IGU Cat A Final Merit List of 2023 shall be eligible to play in the events on the Gentlemen amateur main tour.
- Six (06) Spots shall be nominated by the Host Club, provided the nominated player meets the above-mentioned handicap eligibility.
- Six (06) Spots shall be nominated by the IGU. The IGU may give additional spots as decided by the Championship Committee.
- Two (02) sponsor spots in view of any sponsor for the event.
- A player can request at a maximum of FOUR (04) IGU spots in the entire Tour calendar year.
- Format for Amateur Golf Championship of India and East India Amateur shall have 32 players qualifying after 36 Hole Stroke Play over first two days before moving in to Match Play phase to be completed in the next 4 days.
- One practice round on a day prior to the tournament will be allowed. The timings for the Practice Round shall be decided by the Tournament Director.
- Playing/Teaching Professional / Blood Relation Relatives and existing IGU Tour players are NOT allowed to Caddy for a Player during the tournament.
Conditions for Amateur Golf Championship of India shall consist of the following
- All Players on the Gentlemen Order of Merit as on event registration date and also players as qualified through the 2024 National Qualifier (s) and the players qualified through the zonal feeder tours.
- Top World Amateur Golf Ranking (WAGR) ranked Indian players residing abroad meeting the handicap criteria of 6 and below. A maximum of two spots in this category shall be given on a first come and first serve basis.
- Foreign participants nominated by their respective National Federation / Association.
- Past Winners of Amateur Golf Championship of India and Players having represented India in Nomura Cup, Eisenhower Cup and Asian Games will also form the exempt category. Winner of the Asia Pacific Amateur Championship shall also be exempted to participate in the Amateur Golf Championship of India.
- Top 5 juniors in the IGU Cat A Junior Boys Order of Merit as on the date of registration of the event.
- Of six (06) spots nominated by the Host Club provided the players meet the handicap eligibility criteria
- of six (06) spots shall be nominated by the IGU.
- One practice round on a day prior to the tournament will be allowed. The timings for the Practice Round shall be decided by the Tournament Director.

Order of Merit Points:
- There are 12 tournaments in the Gentlemen Amateur Tour. Any best 9 performances will be considered for the Final Order of Merit List at the end of the year 2023. There will be no Mandatory Tournaments. Additional weight age has been given to 4 Regional Tournaments and the All India Amateur Championship. Point distribution is given below:-

Note: Points for all events held in 2023 shall be carried forward to next year. Event that becomes more than 365 days old and is not being repeated this season will be taken off the OOM. Events may not get replaced exactly after one year. This can happen any time during the Golf Calendar year. Event (s) being repeated in 2024 will replace last year’s Event.
- Points for Ties (except in the case of 1st position which will be decided by a Sudden Death Play Off) for all other positions, will be shared equally by combining the points for the positions involved. Fractions will be rounded off to the next round figure. e.g. 0.1 will be treated as 1. The Play off Holes for the Sudden Death will be nominated by the Tournament Director.
- In Case of Tie for the 1st and 32nd Position in the 36 hole Qualifying Rounds (only for Eastern India and Amateur Golf Championship of India), the same shall be broken as suggested in the IGU Hard card.
- In case of ties for any position(s) on the Order of Merit List, the same will be decided based on maximum no. of wins. If there still remains a tie then the stroke average of the most recent 3 tournaments, in which all those tied have played, will be taken.
- All Tournaments (excepting Amateur Golf Championship of India & Eastern India Amateur which are Match Play Events) shall be played over four rounds of 18 holes each – stroke play in accordance with the Rules of Golf as approved by the R & A – USGA. The All India Amateur and Eastern India Amateur shall be played on the stroke play and match play format. The Tournament Director reserves the right to curtail the no. of rounds due to any adverse playing / weather conditions.
Event Fees & Event Registration:
- Participation Charges for all categorized events shall be 3000/- payable at the time of Registration at venue on the day of the practice round.
- Online Entries are mandatory for all Tournaments and will close 07 days prior to start of the Tournament.
Eligible players will need to register with the tournament director at the venue on the day of the practice round at the venue with Players not registering online and at venue with the tournament officials in time shall NOT be included in the draw. Tournament Director reserves the right to accept eligible entries beyond the given time.
Score Cut and Half way Cuts:
- There would be a preliminary cut (by score) after Round 1. A cut-off score of 14 over and above will apply and players not meeting the criteria will not be allowed to play their next round(s). There shall be NO SCORE CUT applied on Day 1 of the Amateur Golf Championship of India and Eastern India Amateur Championship.
- A half way cut shall be applied after 36 holes, 50 players plus ties shall play the final two rounds. The draw for the final two rounds will be made as per the scores. Please refer to the IGU Hard Card.

Spectators & Gallery:
- Gallery is permitted as per the Host club rules on the same. Gallery is NOT permitted to have any kind of interaction with the player during the course of play. Gallery must at all times keep a distance of min 50 yards from the players on the Golf Course during Tournament Rounds. Breach of this rule shall invite penalty from the Tournament committee.

- As a courtesy to the host club / sponsor it is mandatory that all players of the tournament attend the Prize Function which will be held approx. 30 minutes after the last group has submitted the cards.
Tournament Committee:
- The Tournament Committee consisting of club representative/s, IGU Official/s and sponsors if any, shall be formed by the Tournament Director.
- The Tournament Committee will have the sole discretion to alter the conditions for the competition and to give decisions on any query / ruling / disputes arising during the tournament.
- Any matter not covered under the conditions of play will be decided by the Committee and their decision shall be final and binding on the participants. The committee also reserves the right to fix / alter starting times. In the event of any Round/s being cancelled due to inclement weather or for any other reason, the Tournament Committee will assess the situation and take a decision which shall be binding on all the participants.
Drug Abuse and Use of Tobacco:
- Competitor shall not knowingly make use of any drug to enhance his performance. Smoking and consumption of alcohol is not permitted by any player during course of play.
Mobile Phones and Use of Distance Measuring Devices (DMD):
- Please refer to IGU hard card 2024
- Use of Distance Measuring Devices (DMDs) is permitted in IGU Tour Events.
Mobile Phones and Use of Distance Measuring Devices (DMD):
- A player who has been reported of cheating or misconduct during a course of any IGU event by the Tournament Director / Event officials / Host Club shall be dealt with severe disciplinary action including a ban from participating in IGU events.
