Dear Golfer,
It has come to the attention of the Indian Golf Union (IGU) that certain unauthorized individuals, specifically a faction falsely claiming to be the office bearers of the IGU, are circulating misleading communications regarding selection trials, coaching camps, and participation in upcoming international events, including the Asian Games 2026.
This letter serves as a formal advisory to disregard and not entertain any communication, directive, or selection notice from any entity other than the officially recognized IGU office located at 14, Anand Lok, August Kranti Marg, New Delhi.
You are advised to rely only on communications from the recognized IGU for the following legal and statutory reasons:
- Sole Recognition by International Golf Federation (IGF):
The International Golf Federation (IGF), the world governing body for golf, recognizes only the elections held on 15.12.2024. The IGF has explicitly warned the Indian Olympic Association (IOA) against interfering in the autonomy of the IGU.
- Reference: IGF Letter dated 04.02.2025 to the President, IOA, stating that recognizing any other faction is a “blatant violation of the Olympic Charter”
- Sole Recognition by Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports (MYAS):
The Government of India, through the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports (MYAS), officially recognizes the IGU governing body elected on 15.12.2024 as the sole National Sports Federation (NSF) for golf in India.
- Reference: MYAS Letter dated 28.12.2024 confirming the election of the current Governing Council as listed on the IGU and IGF websites.
- Reference: MYAS Office Order No. 12-2/2025-SP-III dated 05.03.2025, which mandates that only the recognized NSF is authorized to select players and hold coaching camps for international events
- Binding Orders of the Hon’ble High Court of Delhi:
The Hon’ble High Court of Delhi has already validated the standing of the current IGU body.
- Reference: Order dated 12.08.2025 in W.P. (C) No. 12004/2025, where the Court held that the Petitioner (IGU) is the recognized NSF and restrained the IOA from allowing any third party to represent the IGU.
- Reference: Order dated 09.09.2025 in LPA No. 565/2025, where the Division Bench refused to set aside the findings of the single judge recognizing the IGU’s status.
WARNING:
Dealing with unauthorized factions puts your career at significant risk. Participation in unauthorized camps or trials will not be considered for official selection to the Indian Team for the or any other international tournament or competition of the International Golf Federation or of the Asian Pacific Golf Confederation.
Please verify all communications. Official correspondence will only be sent from the official IGU email domains [info@indiangolfunion.org] and signed by the recognized office bearers listed on the IGU website at https://indiangolfunion.org/ and IGF websites on https://igfdigital.com/national-members.
Kind Regards,
Maj Gen Bibhuti Bhushan
